Sustainable Business Practices
Sharper Technology is committed to employee satisfaction, development and well being. We, from the most senior management level display and model fairness and equity in all aspects of employee relations and show no tolerance for discrimination, bullying or harassment. Workplaces are safe and healthy and employees are encouraged to provide input and participate.
Environmental responsibility – Sharper Technology is respectful of environmental limits and operates in an environmentally efficient way in the design and delivery of its products/services. For example material/resource use is minimized, processes are designed considering the materials and waste products.
Community contribution and fairness – Sharper Technology contributes to making the communities in which it operates better places to live and do business (for example, sourcing materials locally) and employees are encouraged to become involved in achieving this goal. Often this will be at a local level, but there may also be opportunities to apply this at the national and/or global level.
Integration of sustainability into the organization – sustainability is a business priority and is reflected in all aspects of the organization, including business processes (such as decision making, vision, performance management) to ensure that decisions are made with their sustainability effects in mind.
Environment, Health and Safety
Sharper Technology is committed to meeting our environmental, health and safety (EHS) goals for our products and processes, and to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. It is Sharper Technology’s policy to provide a safe and healthful workplace for all, and to minimize the impact of our production processes and products on the environment.
Employees and others acting on Sharper Technology’s behalf are responsible for knowing and complying with all applicable EHS laws and regulations, as well as with Sharper Technology’s related policies, standards and guidelines. Sharper Technology’s management also is responsible for ensuring that employees and others acting on Sharper Technology’s behalf are properly trained in these laws and policies.
Building Relationships – The Sharper Technology Supplier Diversity Program recruits vendors from a wide range of businesses including products, supplies, and services. Product is, of course, highly competitive and managed by buyers in their particular department. Supplies and services make up the day-to-day support needs that help create a professional experience for our customers. Each of these specialized areas offers us numerous opportunities to partner with vendors within your community.
Be fair and ethical in purchasing decisions. If you purchase products or services for the Company, put the Company’s interests first and seek to obtain the maximum value for the money spent consistent with Company policy. You must also comply with the Company’s competitive bidding policy. Treat all vendors fairly, honestly and courteously. Avoid unfair buying tactics and favoritism, and never take unfair advantage of any vendor through manipulation, concealment, misrepresentation of material facts or any other unfair practice. We are committed to having our suppliers reflect the same diversity that we seek in our workforce. Work to identify minority and women-owned business enterprises, and evaluate them in accordance with their qualifications.
Know your obligations as they relate to customers and licensees: Treat others as you wish to be treated. Understand the policies and standards that are applicable to our Company. Don’t misrepresent the characteristics or capabilities of our products or recommend products or services that don’t meet a customer’s needs.
Be careful when collecting information about competitors, customers and vendors: You have a responsibility to comply with Company policy in gathering competitive information in the marketplace. Although the standard for what is acceptable and what isn’t may vary from country to country, the Company prohibits certain practices that are always improper as follows:
- Industrial espionage
- Receipt of stolen property
- Asking or inducing someone to disclose information that is confidential regarding a current or former employer. (Note that collecting information for newsgathering purposes is governed by other policies set forth elsewhere.)
In addition, collecting information by misrepresenting facts, employee identity or Company affiliation is also prohibited without the prior approval of the Company’s General Counsel. If you find you’re in possession of information that may have been obtained unethically or illegally, or if you’re ever in doubt about whether a particular practice for the collection of information is proper, contact the Legal department.
Conflicts of Interest
Our business is built on public trust and confidence and an expectation by our customers that they can depend on our products and services. To deliver our very best, each of us has an obligation to make objective decisions on behalf of the Company and avoid situations where a conflict (or apparent conflict) exists between the Company’s interests and our own, personal interests.
Freedom of Association
Sharper Technology acknowledges employees rights to join or leave groups of a person’s own choosing, and for the individual/group to take collective action to pursue the interests of members. It is both an individual right and a collective right, guaranteed by all modern and democratic legal systems.
Sharper Technology is committed to maintaining and improving systems and processes to avoid complicity in human right violations related to our own operations, our supply chain, and our products. We regularly assess human rights-related risks and potential impacts, review our policies and management processes, and seek input from others on our approach. We also support the advancement of human rights through our global efforts to help bridge the digital divide, expand education access, promote social innovation, and improve conditions in our supply chain.

Confidential Information and Privacy
Consumers expect and rightfully demand an open disclosure of privacy practices to ensure their information given is used responsibly. The Direct Marketing Association has developed guidelines to help direct marketing companies meet consumer privacy expectations. By providing consumers with notice of information practices and the ability to remove their names from lists, responsible companies demonstrate their commitment to protecting consumer privacy.
